"Reformat dates in filename"

TARGET FILES:
All files (*.*)

CASE:
Capitalized text look better. That's what most of us think. However, most of filenames aren't. unfortunately, there's no way of making filenames capitalized quickly using Windows Explorer and we have to leave the names unchanged or alternatively, rename them manually.

SOLUTION:
NIYoW offers a very simple but yet powerful rule that is able to make filenames capitalized. The rule is very flexible and enables you to capitalize only the first letter, make all text uppercased, lowercased and much more. You can even specify how many words you would like to be affected.

Example FILEname:
Before: "my File with messed TEXt.doc"
After: "My File With Messed Text .doc"

THE RULES:

Rule
Parameters
Description
1
Letters: "Change capitalization "

Capitalization Type="First Letter Up"

Apply To="Title"

This rule makes the first letter of each word in the filename's title capitalized.

Possible enhancements:

  1. Use other capitalization type - If you like to use other capitalization, such as lowercase, uppercase or else, change the Capitalization Type value.
  2. Make only the first letter in the whole text up - You can make the whole text lowercased and the first letter of the first word uppercased. For example, "This Is My File.txt" will become "This is my file.txt". What you have to do is to change the first rule's Capitalization Type parameter to "lower case" and then add the advanced version of this rule ("Change capitalization (Advanced)"). In this new rule, set the Capitalization Type to "First Letter Up" and set the Number of Words parameter to "1". This will make only the order NIYoW to apply the "First Letter Up" filter only to the first word. This set can also be downloaded from HERE.

Comments:
This set is a very common set used by many people. Most renamers offer this filter. However, NIYoW took it one step forward and added the advanced capitalization rule which enables you to control the amount of affected words, set excpetion list of words, set word separators and more, in order to let you accomplish any kind of task you wish.
